Authors

So, you wish to share your dreams? Good. The world needs more dreamers. Heres how it works. First, you sign up on our forums. Next, drop me a private message or email letting me know you want to be an author. I will set up a private forum that only you and I can see. Who am I? I am Alexander, your new editor in chief. While I am also an author, I discovered early on in creative writing classes that I'm quite good at pointing out errors, inconsistencies, and asking questions about event and characters that help everything end up better. So it is with this site. Post your stories to threads and I'll make a few suggestions if you'd like. When you feel a story is ready for public consumption, post it into a thread on your public forum. There will be a guide on the best ways to do this in the authors section of the board. Note, the serialized format is welcome here. Is the first few pages perfect, but the rest still needing some work? Post it as part one. Have people read your work, give you feedback, clamor for more.

Money

Later we may move to a format where the newest updates are only available to paid subscribers, rotating out later to the free site. In the meantime, Dream Fantastic runs off of ads. Every page in the board has a series of project wonderful ads on it. Each story that gets posted will be given an invisble counter by me for you to put on it. This will track the number of unique views of your story. At the end of each month, any money recieved from advertising will be split among the authors based on those views. Money will be disbursed however the author requests, from pay pal to a mailed money order. Work those details out with me via private message or email. Each author is welcome to post a link to their own websites with their own advertising, to add their own ads to their forum submissions (within content guidlines, of course) or to include a donation link for people who like your work to send you money directly. We hold no claim to any monies gathered in such a way.

Copyright and ownership

We hold NO copyright or ownership claims over your work. You hold all such rights, as well as the right to remove your work from our site at any time you see fit. We stongly encourage you to copyright information to every story you post, securing yourself some rights.

Submission Guidelines

We accept ALL original writing. We are aimed at a Sci-Fi and Fantasy crowd, but we will accept any genre, even non-fiction and poetry. We do NOT accept fan-fic. This includes use of characters from other forms of fiction (books, television, movies, webcomics, anything) in your own worlds, or your own characters entirely, but in the worlds of others. The only exception is if the world and characters involved are owned by you in entirety, for example, stories written by you that tie in with a webcomic owned by you. (Of course, if you already have a webcomic, why wouldn't you put your written story THERE?) NO EXCEPTIONS. Becuase of advertising on the site, Dream Fantastic is a for profit venture, both for the website operators, and the individual authors. Copyright infringement is not allowable in any way. Note, if you feel a work posted on Dream Fantastic infringes your own copyright, please email to editor at dreamfantastic dot com.
